Mrs YaYa' Felted Alpaca Hats
This year I have ventured to a new area of working with the alpaca fiber. I am now making beautiful wet felted alpaca fiber hats.
When I was young I was always intrigued by my dad's cowboy hats and thought how neat it would be to make hats. Who knew many years later I would find the opportunity to do so. I started out working on these during our winter slow time.
With Soap, water and strategically placed fiber I began wet felting the hats. I found pure joy working with the fiber and being able to make each hat come to life by the simple shapes I found circa 1920's to 1970's. What I had also learned that these styles are still popular today and making a strong comeback! The hats were inspired by hats from the 1920's to 1970's. You will find them in men and women's styles such as the traditional Fedora, Bowler, Cloche and Bucket hats with narrow and wide brims. Hat size run from 21" to 23" and they are in natural colors and some are dyed beautiful colors.
I do take custom orders, call for more information 816-255-8146 Each hat comes with the information about the alpacas fiber, age of the alpaca, a picture of the alpaca, and a little family history. I have included how to care for your hat as well.
The hats style is classy, it can be worn to keep your head warm, for a night out on the town, or even for the special occasions. Some will keep the sun out of your eyes, some just make you feel good.
Hats are now available in our farm store, come out and look at all the stylish, beautiful hats!
